Mission Impossible 7 box office collection Day 8: Tom Cruise’s action film collects over Rs 76 crore in India, to overtake Fallout today

Tom Cruise-starrer Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One has had a dream run in Indian theatres, and has made Rs 76.86 crore nett in its first eight days, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s gross collection in India to Rs 86.3 crore. Dead Reckoning will overtake Mission: Impossible – Fallout’s lifetime haul of Rs 80 crore today.

On Wednesday, which was the film’s eighth day in theatres, the Tom Cruise actioner made Rs 4 crore (early estimates), which is slightly less than the film’s seventh day earnings, which stood at Rs 4.35 crore. The film might witness a huge drop in its collection from Friday, as Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie are both releasing on July 21.

At the end of first week, Vin Diesel’s Fast X, which was the last big Hollywood release in India, made Rs 78.72 crore, as per Bollywood Hungama.

Mission Impossible 7’s worldwide collection in its first week is over $259 million and of that, $168 million is from non US territories, as per BoxOfficeMojo. Previously, Variety reported that the film’s budget was $290 million, so by that account, the film is yet to be declared a hit. The inflated budget of the film was due to the delays in production during the pandemic.

Dead Reckoning Part Two’s shoot is currently halted because of the ongoing writers and actors’ strike in Hollywood. As per The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Cruise participated in the negotiations through a Zoom call.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One got a 2.5 star rating from The Indian Express’ Shalini Langer. “As if resorting to the irritating and, frankly, greedy trend of splitting a film into two is not enough, as if the interminable length of 164 minutes of this part is not enough, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One fills up the time with endless talk,” read a part of her review.
