Three Bangladeshi men detained for fighting near Kajang clinic
KAJANG: Three Bangladeshi men have been detained for allegedly fighting in front of a polyclinic in Taman Prima Saujana here.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said a police report was lodged by a 35-year-old doctor on Thursday (July 20) over the incident.
“According to the complainant, his staff saw two groups of Bangladeshi men entering the clinic for a health checkup around 6pm on Wednesday (July 19).
“Both groups were brought in by different agents but a disagreement occurred between them in front of the polyclinic, resulting in some of them taking out hockey sticks.
“The situation became more tense when the two groups of men were shoving each other. One of them entered the polyclinic, scaring the staff before one of them shouted for all the foreigners to disperse,” he said in a statement on Friday (July 21).
ACP Mohd Zaid said the cause of the ruckus was agents jostling for customers for the medical examination.
“We are aware of a video that went viral, which also claimed that a woman was assaulted in a clinic but our investigations showed such an incident did not occur,” he clarified.
The three suspects were detained in Sentul and Setapak at about 1.15am on Friday, he said.
“They have been remanded until Monday (July 24) for further investigation.
“We are investigating the matter under Section 148 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998,” he added.
ACP Mohd Zaid advised the public to not be influenced or spread fake news, which could cause public distress.
“Those with information on the case can contact investigating officer Insp Norhafizah Borhanuddin at 018-390 3410 or any police station,” he urged.
