Fahmi addresses The 1975 incident at Good Vibes Festival, organisers to explain
PETALING JAYA: Following an incident where Matt Healy, frontman of British band The 1975, slammed Malaysia’s LGBT laws and kissed his male bandmate Ross MacDonald on stage during their performance at the Good Vibes Festival, the organisers have been summoned to explain the incident.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil quote-tweeted mStar’s report on the incident, stating that what occurred was disrespectful.
“This is a very disrespectful act. I have summoned the organisers to give an explanation, and I will contact the authorities for a full report,” said Fahmi via his official Twitter account in the early hours of Saturday (July 22) morning.
According to mStar, the band’s performance at the festival grounds on Sepang International Circuit on Friday (July 21) night was cut short after the frontman’s actions.
Ini satu tindakan yang sangat biadab. Saya telah panggil penganjur untuk beri penjelasan esok, dan akan berhubung dengan pihak berkuasa untuk dapatkan laporan penuh. https://t.co/f4yf4s2XQP
