Man dies after being pinned by wheel loader he was operating in Pitas
KOTA KINABALU: A 64-year-old man died after he was pinned by a heavy loader he was operating during an incident in Pitas on Thursday (July 27).
According to the Fire and Rescue Department, they received a report of the case at 2.41pm which occurred at Felcra palm oil plantation in Kampung Rosob there.
A team from Kota Marudu was dispatched to the location about 40km away, said the Department spokesman.
“It was informed that a piece of heavy machinery (loader) fell into an 80m ravine when plantation clearing works were being carried out.
“A victim who was pinned, was extracted by the team using an excavator and he was pronounced dead by the police personnel on site.
“His remains were handed over to the police for further actions, and the operation ended at 4.24pm,” said the spokesman.
