State polls: Party members campaigning for rivals risk being expelled, warns DAP
GEORGE TOWN: Any party members found campaigning for Opposition candidates or disparaging the party will be expelled, says DAP.
“They will be regarded as working against the interest of the party and disciplinary action will be taken, including termination of membership,” said state DAP organising secretary Jason H’ng.
H’ng said there have been complaints of individuals who have made irresponsible statements attacking the party.
“Every decision made was carefully thought of and wasn’t easy but had to be done for the future of the party in Penang,” he added in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 1).
He said that it is regrettable that baseless accusations are being hurled at the party and the leadership without checking the facts.
“I also urge all party leaders to distance themselves from those who have become turncoats and betrayed the party,” added H’ng.
He said that there is a need for unity and told members not to make any baseless accusations which could damage the party.
“It is regrettable that an Independent candidate has used the office of a former assemblyman and the party’s resources for a press conference to attack and disparage candidates and the party,”
