State polls: Muda candidates declare assets, net worth ranges from RM1,551 to RM13.9mil
PETALING JAYA: All 19 Muda candidates declared their assets, with the party’s Bukit Gasing candidate VKK Raja (pic) having the highest net worth at RM13.9mil.
The entrepreneur cum politician declared total assets of RM16mil, including shareholding and directorships in companies, properties, vehicles, and cash and liabilities of RM2.08mil.
Muda’s Kuala Kubu Bharu candidate Dr Siva Prakash Ramasamy declared a total asset of RM3.97mil and liabilities of RM1.36mil, bringing his total net assets to RM2.6mil. This includes 12 business ventures linked to the 40-year-old.
He was followed by Muda’s Batu Uban candidate Lim Kim Noor, who declared total assets of RM1.2mil. The 59-year-old lawyer’s total assets were worth RM8.76mil while liabilities stood at RM7.57mil.
Muda’s sole Negri Sembilan candidate Ahmad Qusyairi Abdul Rahim declared a net asset of RM857,370.22 with a bulk of the 34-year-old Temiang candidate’s assets in the form of properties.
The party’s Bandar Utama candidate and eco-entrepreneur Abe Lim, 27, declared total assets of RM353,593.69 with liabilities of RM6,411 in the form of a PTPTN loan.
Meanwhile, Muda secretary-general and Seri Serdang candidate Amir Hariri Abd Hadi declared net assets of RM18,696.74 while information chief Luqman Long, who is contesting in Terengganu, declared RM22,001 in assets.
The youngest candidate in the state polls, Melanie Ting, 23 who is contesting in Bukit Antarabangsa declared RM1,551.89 in total and net assets. This was in the form of bank savings.
Lisa Redzuan, the candidate for Pandan Indah, declared a total asset of RM800,369.35 and liabilities of RM1.02mil, bringing her net liability to RM220,376.05.
In a press conference on the asset declarations on Thursday (Aug 3), Muda chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said the process was not a gimmick.
He said this is important because it ensures accountability and allows for investigations if a person acquires “extraordinary” assets after entering politics.
He also urged the unity pact leaders to declare their assets.
“I would like to remind the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional government of their commitment to declare assets, especially for Cabinet members who have yet to do so even after eight months (in power),” he said.
Muda candidates also declared their assets during the 15th General Election. The asset declaration and signed statutory declarations have been uploaded to the party’s website.
