State polls: Talk of ‘green wave’ hitting Penang just psywar tactics, says Zambry

BALIK PULAU: The PAS-linked “green wave” sweeping over Penang is just a psychological warfare tactic, says Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

The Barisan Nasional secretary-general said the most important thing for the coalition, especially Umno’s machinery, was to build solidarity and have full confidence in the candidates being fielded for the Aug 12 state polls.

“I am confident, in the context of Penang, it is unlikely to happen, especially when we look at the spirit shown by all parties including our partners Pakatan Harapan,” he told reporters during a meet-the-people session at the fishermen’s market in Sungai Pinang here on Friday (Aug 4).

He was asked to comment on talk of the “green wave” hitting Penang, especially in Malay-majority seats.

Penang Barisan, particularly Umno, is fielding candidates in six seats in the state.

Zambry, who is also Foreign Minister, was accompanying Barisan candidate Ahmad Zaki Shah Headan, the son of a former assemblyman, who is vying for the Teluk Bahang seat.

He will be contesting against Perikatan Nasional’s candidate Muhamad Kasim, who is from Bersatu.
