Singaporean man killed, girlfriend hurt in Johor motorbike crash
ISKANDAR PUTERI: A 23-year-old Singaporean man was killed and his pillion rider injured after their motorcycle crashed into the back of a trailer lorry at KM9.5 of the Second Link here.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said that the incident occurred around 10.30pm on Friday (Aug 4) when the victim was riding his motorcycle together with his 22-year-old girlfriend.
“The duo are both Singaporeans and were heading towards Johor Baru. The initial investigation showed the rider crashed into the left side of the back of a moving trailer,” he said when met at his office in Kota Iskandar on Sunday (Aug 6).
ACP Rahmat added that the rider suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was unconscious and had been taken to the Sultanah Ismail Hospital (HSA) for treatment.
“The woman regained consciousness on Saturday (Aug 5) and had been brought back by her family to be treated in Singapore,” he said.
“The trailer lorry was driven by a 49-year-old man, and the police have seized the vehicle,” added ACP Rahmat, who said that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
