State polls: 55 police reports lodged over election-related matters in Selangor
PETALING JAYA: A total of 55 police reports were lodged in Selangor on Saturday (Aug 5) in connection with the state elections, says Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan (pic).
The Selangor police chief said an investigation paper was opened under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief for an incident where a billboard for a Perikatan Nasional candidate was damaged by an unknown individual.
“Another 54 police reports were classified as no offence disclosed (NOD) as there were no arrests made.
“The NOD reports are the ones made by Ops Cantas teams monitoring the elections in Selangor,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Aug 6).
Comm Hussein said only one campaign was conducted without a permit while 286 others were conducted with permits.
“We also recorded 90 ceramah with permits,” he said.
He also reminded all candidates that party flags, posters and banners must not be placed at government buildings, houses of worship or traffic lights.
