Air Selangor: Water supply disruption to be restored by Aug 15

PETALING JAYA: The disrupted water supply to 416 areas in six regions in the Klang Valley will be restored in stages over the next two days following an unscheduled reduction in treated water production on Saturday (Aug 12).

Air Selangor said in a statement on its website that the four affected water treatment plants of Rantau Panjang, SSP1, SSP2, and SSP3 had returned to operating at full capacity and that treated water production has returned to normal levels as of 8.30am on Sunday (Aug 13).

It said the reduction in treated water production was due to the sudden high turbidity of raw water caused by water surge in Sungai Kerling on Saturday.

“Water supply distribution will commence to consumers in stages starting from noon today, after the water supply system has been stabilised.

“The water supply recovery period will differ from one area to another according to the location and distance of consumers’ premises and is expected to fully recover for all areas by midnight on Aug 15,” read the statement.

Air Selangor said it would also continue to mobilise water tankers to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funerals during the unscheduled water disruption period.

Selangor residents are advised to view the list of affected areas via https://hentitugas.airselangor.com/ or the Air Selangor application to check if their area is affected.
