Hadi making baseless statements out of desperation, says Mat Sabu

MUAR: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is only making baseless statements out of desperation in order to win in the coming by-elections, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

“He recently claimed that PAS decided to end their cooperation with DAP after the party decided not to support the Islamic state agenda back in 2008.

“This is a lie; it was PAS itself that decided not to go with the Islamic state idea and changed it to the welfare state agenda; this was discussed before the 12th General Election, and we even campaigned for it,” the Amanah president said.

He said this when met by reporters after the Ceramah Kelompok programme at Taman Sri Kasih, here, on Monday (Aug 28) night.

Mohamad was commenting on Abdul Hadi’s statement during a ceramah at Bakri PAS headquarters on Saturday (August 26).

“He even claimed that there are former PAS leaders who had left the party in fear of losing in the elections and formed Amanah.

“It is not because we were afraid, but Abdul Hadi has been making statements that Umno was bad for years, then suddenly, in 2015, he decided to stop the cooperation with DAP without any discussion and instead cooperated with Umno.

“Now, they are trying to bring up the issues of hudud, but this was never once discussed when Perikatan Nasional came into power, even when there was a memorandum between the government and Opposition.

“I still have respect for him as my former leader, but with his current health condition, he should stop all these lies and retire peacefully from politics,” he said.
