Ex-deputy minister Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan passes away
PETALING JAYA: Former deputy minister Datuk Seri Dr Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan passed away at the age of 78 on Wednesday (Sept 6) morning.
Abdullah, who held portfolios in the defence and foreign ministries, was said to have breathed his last at KPJ Tawakkal Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), in expressing its condolences on the passing of Abdullah, who was a former BAM president, said his contributions would always be appreciated.
Abdullah led the national badminton governing body for seven years from 1993 until 2000.
“Condolences to the family of former BAM president, Datuk Seri Dr Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan. The deceased’s contribution to the sport of badminton will always be appreciated.
“His passing is a great loss to the country. May his soul be placed among the faithful,” said BAM president Tan Sri Dr Mohamad Norza Zakaria in a post on the BAM Facebook page.
BAM added that Abdullah will always be remembered as a figure who had shown great devotion to the motherland.
Abdullah was a former Bukit Gantang MP from 1986 to 2004 and held the deputy foreign affairs minister portfolio from 1987 to 1995 and deputy defence minister post from 1995 to 1999.
