Two men die in car-lorry accident in Tangkak
TANGKAK: Two men were killed on the spot after the car they were travelling in was involved in an accident with a lorry in Pekan Sagil here.
Tangkak Fire station chief Rafiah Aziz said the station was notified of the incident near an oil palm plantation on Jalan Sagil of Jementah at 7.02am on Wednesday (Sept 6).
“The two victims were travelling towards Segamat while the lorry transporting sand was heading to Tangkak when the accident happened,” she said in a statement.
Rafiah said a medical officer, who arrived at the scene, pronounced car driver Mohd Hazim Abd Halim, 25, and passenger Muhamad Fikri Amaludin, 24, dead on the scene.
“The 37-year-old lorry driver Azuan Ithnin escaped unhurt,” added Rafiah.
She said firemen used special equipment to recover the bodies of the two victims, which were trapped in the car.
Rafiah said the operation led by senior officer II Johari Sameon and eight firemen ended at 7.57am.
