“Stars Should Not Ask For Discounts”: TVB Star Yoyo Chen Criticised For Haggling Over S$6 Hat

In the video, the 42-year-old, who was visiting the zoo, had forgotten to bring a sunhat and binoculars, and ended up having to buy them from an auntie outside the zoo.

However, when Yoyo heard that the hat costs HK$35 (S$6), the good bargainer that she is then pretended to walk away before being pulled back by said auntie.

Her trick definitely worked because she ended buying it for only HK$25 (S$4.30).

Now that Yoyo got a good deal for her hat, she went on to haggle for the binoculars, which cost HK$120 (S$21).

All Yoyo had to do was to call the auntie a “pretty girl” to get a whopping 50 per cent discount.

While we were very impressed by Yoyo’s bargaining skills, it appears that certain netizens weren’t that pleased with what she did.

“Stars should not ask for discounts,” chastised one such netizen.

Some netizens, however, defended the star.

“Who said that artistes cannot bargain? They’re rich, not stupid,” retorted another.
