Family of food delivery rider killed in Shah Alam plane crash receives insurance payout

PETALING JAYA: The family of the food delivery rider who perished in the plane crash in Shah Alam has received an insurance payout.

When contacted, a foodpanda Malaysia spokesman said the family of Muhamad Hafiz Salleh from Sungai Petani in Kedah, had received the funds.

“We visited the family on Thursday (Sept 14) to inform them that we have completed the insurance claim process and the funds have been disbursed,” said the spokesman.

It is understood that the company’s delivery partners are insured up to RM100,000 in the event of accidental death or permanent disability when on the job.

Muhamad Hafiz was among the two road users killed in a plane crash on the Guthrie Highway in Shah Alam, on Aug 17.

The aircraft, which took off from Langkawi, was cleared to land at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang but crashed into Persiaran Elmina soon after losing communication with the control tower.

Pelangai state assemblyman and Pahang exco member Datuk Seri Johari Harun were among the deceased.

The others were pilots Shahrul Kamal Roslan and Heikal Aras Abdul Azim, passengers Kharil Azwan Jamaludin, Shaharul Amir Omar, Mohamad Naim Fawwaz Mohamed Muaidi, Muhammad Taufiq Mohd Zaki and Idris Abdol Talib @ Ramali.

The other motorist killed was e-hailing driver Sharipuddin Shaari.
