Three men found murdered in shophouse

KUALA LUMPUR: Police made a grisly discovery of three dead men tied up together in a shophouse here after responding to an emergency call.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said the police were responding to an MERS 999 call made by a member of the public regarding a fight at the shophouse in Jalan Perhentian Kampung Kovil Hilir on Friday night.

Two Sri Lankan suspects who were linked to the fight had fled the scene before the police personnel arrived.

“In the shophouse, we found a couple in one of the rooms, and the bodies of three dead men who were stacked together in the storeroom.

“One of the three was naked, and all the bodies had their hands and legs tied up.

“Their heads were covered with plastic,” he said at a press conference at the Sentul police headquarters yesterday.

The Sri Lankan husband and wife, who were the parents of one of the victims, have been detained to assist in investigations.

The victims were aged between their 20s and 30s, while the parents were in their 40s.

“We believe that the two missing men are the main suspects in this case,” Comm Allaudeen said. He added that a knife was found at the scene.

“We believe the three had been murdered first before being moved to the storeroom.

“There were no injuries on the bodies but one had signs of scratches.

“We are still investigating the cause of death,” he added.

Comm Allaudeen said the suspects were acquaintances of the parents and their son, adding that they had known each other for about six months.

The other two murdered men, also Sri Lankans, had been renting rooms in the shophouse.

“The two suspects came from Klang for a visit.

“We believe the incident may have been premeditated due to the way the bodies were found and that both men had been visiting for the last two days,” he said.

When asked if the fight had involved the parents, he said it was too early to tell.

“It is too early for the police to say anything and what happened before and after.

“Give us time to do this and to identify the motive,” said Comm Allaudeen.

Sources said the parents had told police during questioning that they were not aware of the murders.

Efforts are underway to track down the two suspects.
