Malaysian singer Jeryl Lee rumoured to be China’s new reality TV show winner
PETALING JAYA: Despite the final episode not having been aired yet, Malaysian singer Jeryl Lee Pei Ling is rumoured to be the winner of The Next 2023, a new reality TV show in China, reported Sin Chew Daily.
Some 26 contestants took part in the competition that began in July.
Lee, 23, emerged in the top five following several weeks of eliminations and was the favourite to win.
The final episode, which will crown the winner of the competition, was filmed last Wednesday but will only be aired on Sept 30.
However, the results were leaked by members of the audience who attended the filming.
Lee was said to have been crowned champion.
Veteran artiste Ella Chen, who was one of the celebrity mentors on the show, reportedly praised Lee for having the “personality of a queen”.
Lee, who hails from Penang, is no stranger to reality TV competitions.
In 2016, at the age of 17, she rose to fame when she became one of the six finalists on reality talent show Sing! China held at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing.
