Indonesian lovers detained after high speed chase

SEPANG: An Indonesian couple have been detained after police recovered some drugs on them following a high speed car chase.

In the attempt to flee, they crashed through the police roadblocks and toll booth barriers.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said police flagged down a multi-purpose vehicle with four people while carrying a roadblock in Cyberjaya around 11.30pm on Monday (Sept 25).

“When asked for his identity document and a driving license, the driver sped off.

“Police gave chase as the driver rammed his vehicle through the barriers at Putrajaya and Serenia toll booths and another roadblock at Jalan Dengkil-Banting,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 26).

ACP Wan Kamarul Azran said the chase ended near Kampung Olak Lempit Batu 41, some 20km from the first incident, after the suspect lost control of his vehicle and swerved off the road some 40 minutes later.

“The driver and the front passenger escaped on foot but the Indonesian man, 32, and his 21-year-old lover seated behind were apprehended,” he said.

He said police found two transparent packages filled with 103.61g of syabu from the pair.

“We are tracking down the remaining two suspects,” he added.
