No power abuse in Kudat land deal, I’m ready to cooperate on any probe, says Hajiji
KOTA KINABALU: A 968-ha land deal at Pulau Balambangan in Sabah’s northern Kudat district was done in accordance with the law, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The Chief Minister said there was no abuse of power involved in the approval of the land deal after allegations were made public in a social media post on the “Edisi Panas Sabah” Facebook page.
The social media post accused the Chief Minister of abusing his power in the approval of the land to a Sarawak businessman.
“The accusations are ill-intended, politically motivated and aimed at smearing my name. My office will give full cooperation to any investigation on the allegation,” he said in a statement here Monday (Oct 9).
“All the applications have gone through the necessary procedures through the Land Utilisation Committee (LUC) meeting and processed at the office.
“The application for the Yayasan Sabah land has been referred to its subsidiary Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd board of directors, and everything was done according to the law,” he said in response to the allegation in social media.
He said the investigation would be done and appropriate action would be taken against the officer(s) who released confidential documents that had been used to make the allegation.
Hajiji said the authorities were also alerted about the Facebook account, which posted the allegation to tarnish his reputation.
“I will consult my lawyers to initiate legal action against these false allegations,” he said.
