Abby Choi murder trial postponed for forensic tests
THE court case involving the grisly death of 28-year-old Hong Kong model and influencer Abby Choi has been adjourned until Dec 20 due to incomplete forensic tests on 150 pieces of evidence, Sin Chew Daily reported.
This is despite the defence filing a petition about the slow progress of the investigation.
The lawyer representing her ex-husband’s family pointed out that the four defendants had been remanded for nearly eight months.
Choi’s murder in February made headlines when her remains were discovered in a three-storey village house in Hong Kong.
Her head and parts of her ribs were found inside a large pot while her legs were inside a freezer.
Four members of the ex-husband’s family were charged with murder and obstruction of justice.
The case postponement came about after the prosecution filed an application to adjourn the case when 100 out of 250 pieces of evidence from 30 boxes had been tested.
The prosecution stated that the case involved incomplete human body parts, so testing would take time. However, the defence team contended that the body had been cremated and testing on body parts would not be necessary.
> Six men in Xian, China, downed 111 bottles of sour plum juice as they wanted to take advantage of an all-you-can-eat buffet, China Press reported.
Employees at the hotpot restaurant were taken aback after seeing a table full of empty bottles.
According to a staff member, the buffet meal was priced at only 26 yuan (RM17) including drinks and fruits.
“The six customers had come to the restaurant before, but they did not drink much then. This time, they drank 111 bottles of sour plum juice,” said the employee.
This means that each had consumed an average of 18 or 19 bottles of the juice.
