Shuttler Tze Yong fails to reproduce Arctic Open form in Denmark
PETALING JAYA: Ng Tze Yong, who reached the Arctic Open men’s singles final last week, stumbled in the first round of the Denmark Open in Odense on Tuesday (Oct 17).
Tze Yong faced China’s Lu Guangzu of China in the first round and lost 18-21, 11-21 in 43 minutes.
The Malaysian had beaten Guangzu in the quarter-finals of the Arctic Open in Vantaa, Finland and lost to compatriot Lee Zii Jia in the final on Sunday (Oct 16).
Men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun also could not reproduce their Arctic Open performance and also crashed out in the first round in Odense.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun, who were runners-up to Danes Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in Finland, suffered a 18- 21, 16-21 defeat in 43 minutes.
In the women’s doubles, independent pair Vivian Hoo-Lim Chiew Sien advanced to the second round after beating Linda Efler-Isabel Lohau of Germany 21-18, 19-21, 21-17 in 79 minutes.
