Traffic diversion from Oct 24-30 for JB-Singapore RTS works
JOHOR BARU: Motorists travelling towards Jalan Jim Quee and Jalan Ismail Sultan (city centre and Stulang Laut-bound) here will have to take an alternate route from Oct 24 to 31.
Malaysia Rapid Transit System Sdn Bhd said in a statement on Friday (Oct 20) the traffic diversions will take place following lane closures along both routes.
“The closure is to facilitate construction works of the Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link),” said the statement.
It said the closure would be conducted in stages and be carried out from 10pm until 8am for eight days.
The works involve the pedestrian overhead bridge relocation, bore pile works, sheet piling installation works, pile cap works, pier construction and any other RTS Link construction works.
During the activation of the lane closures at Jalan Jim Quee to Jalan Sultan Ismail (City centre and Stulang Laut-bound), motorists would be diverted onto Jalan Lumba Kuda and Jalan Ah Siang.
The statement said during the left lane closure at Jalan Jim Quee and closure of Jalan Ismail Sultan (Stulang Laut-bound), motorists would be diverted to Jalan Lumba Kuda and Jalan Ah Siang to continue with their journey to Jalan Bukit Meldrum and Jalan Lingkaran Dalam.
“Motorists are advised to follow the traffic signage and the direction of flagmen during the activation of the lane closures,” it said.
The RTS Link project is expected to be up and running by 2026 and is designed to move 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction between Bukit Chagar and Singapore’s Woodlands North.
