KL cops to dispose of drugs seized from 2001 to 2021
KUALA LUMPUR: Twenty years’ worth of drugs seized by the city’s police will be disposed of following the completion of the legal process.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said during a disposal ceremony on Wednesday (Oct 25) at the KL police headquarters that the disposal process was of drugs from cases from 2001 to 2021.
“These case items that are due for disposal involve 2,894 investigation papers from 2001 to 2021, of which all have completed their court trials.
“The disposal will be conducted at the Kualiti Alam waste treatment centre in Bukit Pelandok, Negri Sembilan,” he said, adding that the company had the required experience and expertise to do so.
Among the drugs disposed of include 36kg of methamphetamine worth RM3.61mil and RM3.62mil (72.25kg) of cannabis.
“The estimated weight of the drugs disposed of is around 325.32kg and 907.59 litres. The combined value has been estimated to be RM8.89mil,” he said.
