In 2020, Taiwanese YouTuber Ala (aka Xiao A La) made a life-changing decision to undergo a TW$340K (S$14K) gender reassignment surgery in Thailand.
The next year, the now 34-year-old influencer officially changed her gender from male to female on her identify card in Taiwan.
Though she only completed her transition journey in 2020, Ala has presented herself as female since she first entered showbiz in 2015. She’s also been very open about her transition and has even shared vlogs documenting the gender affirmation procedures she underwent.
Last week (Oct 20), Ala posted on her socials a photo of herself when she was still a man 14 years ago in 2009 in comparison with her current female self. This was to commemorate her journey to self-identification over the past 14 years.
“Me as a guy at 20 years old and me as a girl at 34 years old. Even though I can never look completely like a girl, I think this is very impressive already!,” gushed Ala in her caption.
And netizens were nothing but encouraging towards her.
“From the bottom of my heart, I already see you as a woman,” affirmed one netizen.
Another effused: “If your heart is beautiful, you will look great too. You are so pretty.”
