MACC nabs chief executive of Melaka GLC for submitting false details

MELAKA: The CEO of a state-owned company has been arrested for submitting false details on the value of the two vehicles that were supposed to be disposed of through a tender process.

Melaka Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Mohd Shahril Che Saad said the 46-year-old suspect was arrested when he arrived at their headquarters in Alai here at 2.45pm on Thursday (Nov 2) to have his statement recorded.

Mohd Shahril said the suspect had allegedly submitted a lower valuation than the market price on a Toyota Fortuner 2.5G and Toyota Hilux 2.5G.

The valuation differed from the earlier price estimation officially made by the Public Works Department (PWD) on April 19.

Mohd Shahril added the suspect is believed to have submitted fabricated details on the actual cost of the two vehicles to confuse his board of directors and to procure the automobiles for his personal use.

He added the suspect would be produced at the Magistrate’s Court here on Friday (Nov 3) to obtain a remand order to assist in investigation under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 and Section 471 of the Penal Code.
