Chinese Singer Jin Sha, 42, Dating 23-Year-Old Actor; And They Are Considering Marriage

The couple have been dating for less than two years, and are starring in a reality show together.

After one and a half years of dating, Chinese singer Jin Sha, 42, who gained popularity with her 2005 duet with JJ Lin, ‘The Wind Over The Summer’, has gone public with her relationship with actor Sun Cheng Xiao.

Jin Sha, also known as Kym, made the announcement on Weibo last week, sharing that they are in latest season of popular reality show Viva La Romance.

In the revamped series, they join four other couples on a trip that see them engaging in activities to strengthen their respective relationships.

Cheng Xiao, who had just graduated from the Shanghai Theatre Academy, revealed in the show that he is 23 years old, which would make him 19 years younger than Jin Sha — a fact that they are not shy to admit.

“The year she became famous was the year I was born,” said Cheng Xiao, to which Jin Sha responded, “Not yet, but close enough.”

She had, in fact, made her showbi debut at 22 in 2003 drama Sky.

They are unfazed by their large age gap or the opinions of other people about their relationship.

“Half of my friends are very envious that I have such a handsome ‘younger brother’ who is very gentle and considerate, while the other half feel that I’m quite idealistic and wonder if I should be more level-headed,” shared Jin Sha.

Cheng Xiao then said: “I’ve been independent since I was 18. To me this is right. I want to prove that I love her, and that her choice is right.”

Things are getting serious between the couple.

Jin Sha said she has always wanted to get married and despite their large age gap, she feels Cheng Xiao is husband material.

“It’s just that he’s a bit young to be getting married so early. But no choice, good men aren’t readily available on the market. They’ll be snatched up early,” she quipped.

She added that appearing on the show together will not only bring them a step closer to marriage, it is also a chance for her to show everyone how good her boyfriend is.

“My relationship with my ‘younger brother’ is going very smoothly. I want everyone to see that my boyfriend is pretty good,” she said while looking at him adoringly.

Jin Sha and Cheng Xiao are believed to have met on the set of 2021 Douyin drama 爱的鉴定师 Ai De Jian Ding Shi, loosely translated as Appraiser Of Love, in which they play a couple.

Prior to Cheng Xiao, Jin Sha has been romantically linked to various eligible bachelors, most notably JJ Lin.

Dating rumours sparked after he got down on one knee to ‘propose’ to Jin Sha on stage at his concert in 2010. He later clarified that it was just a joke.
