KK police awaiting autopsy report on woman’s body found at Likas Bay
KOTA KINABALU: Police are waiting for a post-mortem report on a 61-year-old woman who was found dead at the Likas Bay beach here to establish cause of death.
Though they did not find any evidence of foul play, police said they could not speculate.
Kota Kinabalu acting police chief Supt Kalsom Idris said the autopsy report was needed before continuing with the full investigation.
“We don’t know the victim’s cause of death yet but at the moment, we have not found any criminal element,” she said when contacted Thursday (Nov 16).
“As of now, we have classified the case as sudden death.”

It is also understood the police were recording statements from family members to help in the probe.
On Wednesday (Nov 15) morning, the family had sought help from the public to locate the woman through Facebook.
They later took down the post when the body was found.
In a statement on Wednesday, Supt Kalsom said a missing persons report was lodged by the woman’s at the Luyang police station here earlier the same day.
The report was made after the son realised his mother’s disappearance from their house at 6.30am.
Later at 3.32pm, police received a call after the woman’s body was found floating in the sea. A child had found the body and initially thought it was a mannequin.
“The deceased is believed to be related to the missing persons case reported at Luyang police station earlier.
“The victim’s son found the woman’s car at 1.30pm parked along the Likas Bay roadside, as well as a towel said to belong to her at a rock near the beach,” Supt Kalsom had said.
