Bersatu’s prominence a testament to Muhyiddin’s leadership, says party information chief
SHAH ALAM: Under Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s leadership, Bersatu has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing Umno in parliamentary representation, says the party’s Federal Territories information chief.
Mahathir Mohd Rais said this achievement was a testament to Muhyiddin’s effective leadership and the party’s growing influence in Malaysian politics.
“Muhyiddin remains a central figure in Malaysia’s political arena as the respected president of Bersatu.
“His journey is marked by strategic moves, from his tenure in Umno to founding Bersatu and leading the Perikatan Nasional (Perikatan) coalition, highlighting his deep dedication to the nation’s welfare and strategic knowledge.
“Even during the demanding Covid-19 pandemic, Muhyiddin’s term as Prime Minister revealed his balanced and empathetic leadership approach. Earning the nickname ‘Abah,’ he guided the country through challenging times while balancing healthcare and economic sustainability,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Nov 25).
On Muhyiddin’s decision not to contest in the upcoming party election, Mahathir said the party had set aside discussions about future leadership contests within Bersatu, reflecting a unified front under his leadership.
He said the party’s focus was now steadfastly on Muhyiddin’s current leadership, with members and supporters rallying around his vision.
“The commitment within Bersatu is toward building and maintaining its foundations, with each member playing a crucial role in this process.
“The emphasis is on collective efforts and reaffirming loyalty to Muhyiddin’s presidency as the party unites to strengthen its position and further its goals under his guidance,” he said.
He added that the party was working together to strengthen its influence in the country’s politics, with Muhyiddin’s role remaining pivotal in steering the party and Perikatan towards the future.
