Man says instinct led to finding body of Zayn Rayyan

PETALING JAYA: Despite the K9 unit sweeping the area previously, Faizol Najib Abdul Naim says his instincts made him want to search near the river.

The 45-year-old Idaman Apartment resident recalled the discovery of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin’s body at a river some 200m from the place where he was last seen.

Faizol, along with four other residents and police personnel, were supposed to conduct a door-to-door search at the apartment area.

“However, my instinct led me to the back of the apartment and to the river.

“The surrounding area was dark but when I flashed my torchlight towards the river, I saw a body on its side,” he said.

Faizol said his heart fell when it was confirmed that the body was that of Zayn’s.

“We immediately contacted the police and other residents, who were conducting the door-to-door search,” he said.

The victim’s body was discovered at a river at about 10pm on Wednesday (Dec 6).

It was reported that the victim was last seen at Idaman Apartment at Damansara Damai on Tuesday (Dec 5).

Petaling Jaya OCPD ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid had said police received a report about the missing boy at around 6.36pm on Tuesday.

“The boy was last seen near Block R of the apartment complex along PJU 10/1, Damansara Damai at around 12pm on Tuesday.

“The boy was wearing a white collar T-shirt with the SK Damansara Damai 2 emblem on it, a black track suit and black shoes,” he said.
