JDT retain Malaysia Cup, beats Terengganu 3-1

PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) has shown dominance in Malaysian football after retaining the Malaysia Cup.

The Southern Tigers beat Terengganu 3-1 in the final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Sunday (Dec 8) to confirm their status as the first team to win a double-quadruple in Malaysia.

Just like last year, they have won the Community Shield, FA Cup, Super League and now the Malaysia Cup.

JDT got the lead as early as the fifth minute when Brazilian striker Bergson Da Silva converted a penalty.

Terengganu bounced back 15 minutes later when Croatian striker Ivan Mamut equalised, also from the penalty spot.

JDT got the last laugh when substitute centreback Feroz Baharuddin scored the winner in the 73rd minute when he headed Heberty Fernandes’ corner.

And the game was over when winger Arif Aiman Hanapi scored JDT’s third goal in the 94th minute.
