Kevin Cheng Admits He Needs To Change The Way He Shares His Opinions After His Recent Comments About Co-Stars Got Him In Trouble
Admitting one’s fault is not a waste of time.
Hong Kong actor Kevin Cheng, 54, has never been one to mince his words. But it looks like he might be taking a more measured approach when talking to the press now.
Earlier this month, Kevin courted controversy when he said the gatherings with his A Fistful of Stances castmates were a “waste of time”.
He also hinted that he wouldn’t attend co-star Kenneth Ma’s wedding with Roxanne Tong.
Kenneth went on to speak up for Kevin, quashing rumours of a feud, and explaining that those “familiar with Kevin as a person will know what he is talking about”.
Kevin recently spoke to the media at a tennis event, taking the opportunity to clear the air himself.
With regards to his “waste of time” comment, Kevin explained: “I’ve never said anything about ‘wasting time’. I don’t even have enough time on my hands, how do I waste it? I’ve apologised to Kenneth — he’s having the busiest time ever, and he still had to clarify things on my behalf, adding to his worries.”
Kevin also added that he would meet up with Kenneth on a separate occasion for a meal to celebrate the latter’s marriage. He doesn’t see a need to explain matters which only concern Kenneth and him.
When asked about old dating rumours with Charmaine Sheh resurfacing due to the attention that has been placed on him, Kevin said: “I won’t respond to things from the past. I feel very bad for Charmaine, that she got dragged into this.”
He also addressed the hate directed at his wife Grace Chan. She was lambasted online for making the “waste of time” situation worse by posting pics from a recent holiday in Africa.
He, again, emphasised how bad he felt for affecting Kenneth, Grace, and Charmaine with his words.
“I’m being myself, but I don’t want to affect others as well,” he said, adding that he is trying to change the way he speaks so as to avoid similar misunderstandings in the future.
When asked about his cousin Vinci Wong’s accusation about him being “two faced”, Kevin simply said: “I won’t speak about my family and relatives. If I were so good at being two-faced, I wouldn’t be here explaining things which I should have been more tactful about. I tried my best.”
