Visit Perak Year 2024 to kick off with Ipoh Old Town stamp collection programme, says Nga
IPOH: Tourists to Ipoh Old Town can soon collect stamps and win prizes, says Nga Kor Ming.
The Local Government Development Minister said he will introduce a “passport” to collect the stamps to encourage tourists to come to the city as the Visit Perak Year 2024 kicks off next year.
“We have 56 locations where tourists can collect the stamps.
“We have prepared 5,000 maps of these locations that will be distributed to the people,” he said in a press conference after launching the map at Jalan Market on Saturday (Dec 16).
Nga, who is Kepayang assemblyman, said more details will be unveiled during the official launch before Chinese New Year next year.
“I will announce the incentives then, maybe some hotel vouchers or discounts,” he added.
Nga also said a multi-level parking building in Old Town, which costs about RM13mil, is expected to start construction next year.
He said planning for the project was in its final stages now.
“It will add about 400 new parking bays to the area, which is an increase of 100%.
“After its completion, Old Town will have about 800 parking bays,” he said.
“This will be sufficient to address the lack of parking bay issue here and encourage the development of the tourism industry,” he added.
