Fatal Ipoh accident: Senior cop tested negative for drugs, says Perak police chief

IPOH: About 12 reports have been lodged in relation to the case where a Form Five student was killed after being allegedly rammed by a car driven by a senior police officer in Meru Raya here on Friday (Dec 15).

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the reports were received since Friday, with the case still being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving and Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Comm Yusri said the 44-year-old police officer, who was arrested on Friday, also tested negative for drugs.

“We have also taken samples of his blood and are waiting for the pathology report,” he said when contacted.

It was reported earlier that the victim, Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie, 17, died at the scene on Jalan Taman Jati here following the incident at about 12.40pm.
