Joey Yung’s Estranged Dad Is Now A Douyin Content Creator Who Owns A Van Pick-Up Service

Joey’s dad Yung Jin Hui abandoned the star when she was only 15, and once incurred a HK$300K (S$51K) debt in 2014, which Joey refused to be responsible for.

Is Hong Kong singer Joey Yung‘s biological father on his way to becoming an influencer?

Recently, Hong Kong media reported that the Douyin account named “Hui Ge-Yue Gang Ao Kua Jing Shang Wu Che Dui Zhang” belongs to Joey’s dad Yung Jin Hui.

The 43-year-old singer has been estranged from him since she was 15.

In his videos, Jin Hui shared that he’s now 62 and has owned a van pick up service for the past two decades.

Jin Hui, who also owns a chartered tour service business, now takes to Douyin videos to share his experience as a driver.

He shared 17 videos from Jul to Aug 2023, but has stopped updating his profile.

In her past interviews, Joey, who currently owns 12 properties in Hong Kong and has a reported HK$500mil (S$86mil) net worth, has been open about growing up in a single-parent family.

It’s known that Jin Hui abandoned her family, which includes her mother, Yu Kam Fung, and her brother, 28 years ago.

In 2014, Jin Hui incurred a HK$300K (S$51K) debt. His creditors left notices all over Hong Kong to make public that Joey’s father owed them money.

At that time, there were polarising views on whether Joey should settle the debts for her dad.

Joey, however, issued a statement through her long time manager Mani Fok, and emphasised that she’d severed ties with her dad many years ago.

“For so many years, Joey was raised by her mother. With regards to her father, Joey had fulfilled her duties as a daughter. In order to protect her family from now on, Joey will no longer respond to or be responsible for anything her dad does. Right now what’s most important is her mother and [she] will not be bothered by anything else,” Mani said on behalf of the singer.

According to reports, Joey, who’s known to be very thrifty, only leaves a few thousand dollars of her monthly income for personal spending and gives the rest to her mother for investments.
