Opposition leaders convey congratulations to Sultan Ibrahim, pledge loyalty to the King

PETALING JAYA: Opposition leaders have conveyed their congratulations to newly appointed Yang di-Pertuan Agong His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim King of Malaysia and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofia Queen of Malaysia.

Opposition leader and Perikatan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin congratulated the Royal Couple and pledged loyalty to Their Majesties.

“All Perikatan MPs and myself have full confidence that through His Majesty’s reign, Malaysia will receive even more blessings, and enjoy the fruits of unity and prosperity.

‘Daulat Tuanku’,” Hamzah said in a social media post on Wednesday (Jan 31).

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan also conveyed congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith.

“May Allah SWT protect His Majesty and Her Majesty. Daulat Tuanku,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Earlier Wednesday, Sultan Ibrahim was sworn in as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.

In a ceremony at Istana Negara’s Balairung Seri (Throne Room) Sultan Ibrahim also signed the instrument of office.

His Majesty succeeds Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Mustafa Billah Shah who was the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.
