Taiwanese live streamer Li Ming Shan, aka Diu Diu Mei, has gained a following in recent years for her entertaining content and candid demeanor.
However, her live cooking demonstration on Feb 26 took a painful turn when hot oil splattered, causing burns to her chest and arm.
During the session, Ming Shan and special guest Taiwanese-Welsh actor Rhydian Vaughan had intended to showcase a simple scrambled eggs with shrimp recipe.
However, Rhydian scalded his finger as he was unfamiliar with the kitchen tools, leaving Ming Shan to take over the cooking duties.
As Ming Shan was frying the eggs, oil splattered, scalding her on her chest and arm.
The live stream was immediately halted so Ming Shan could receive medical attention.
The next day, Ming Shan posted an update on her injuries, sharing images of burn marks on her neck, chest, and wrist.
Although the burns were not blistered, her manager said she “might have suffered second-degree burns”.
Despite the ordeal, Ming Shan remained upbeat, assuring her followers on Facebook that she was okay: “Every job is tough, and accidents are inevitable at work. I want to present the best [content] for you! Don’t worry about me.”
