‘Kembara Riuh’ should be expanded to more locations in the country, says Fahmi
KUALA LUMPUR: The ‘Kembara Riuh’ programme be expanded to more locations due to the overwhelming response from youths, says Fahmi Fadzil.
The Communications Minister said: “For example the ‘Kembara Riuh’ programme organised at the Sentul Depot starting today (March 29) had attracted about 10,000 visitors and the figure is expected to increase to 30,000 by Sunday.
“I was informed that visitors were lining up as early as 3pm to be a part of the programme that was scheduled to start at 6pm.
“On the first day the numbers already reached 10,000 visitors and we expect the total attendance for this programme alone to reach 30,000 but I feel it could be more.
“Tomorrow is Saturday (March 30) and I expect more to attend. Therefore, take advantage of the public transport to avoid traffic congestion and parking problem,” he told reporters after attending the Kembara Riuh ‘Riuh x Cuckoo: #Samasama Raya’ launch which was also attended by his deputy Teo Nie Ching, here on Friday (March 29).
The Kembara Riuh programme will next move to Johor Bahru from April 5 to 7, followed by the Riuh x ‘Hari Belia Negara’ in Melaka (May 25-26), Riuh Oha! in Kuching, Sarawak (June 28-30), Riuh Bah! 2.0 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (Sept 14-16), Riuh Ork! in Kuantan, Pahang (Oct 25-26) and Rock N’ Riuh in Kuala Lumpur (Dec 6-8).
On March 8, Fahmi was reported as saying 5,023 job opportunities were successfully created through the Kembara Riuh Programme organised by the MyCreative Ventures Group (MyCreative) from 2022 to 2023.
The Communications Minister said the programme also had an impact on 4,324 arts and creative industry practitioners and received more than 285,000 visitors with total sales of RM2.8mil during the period. – Bernama
