Last weekend, the Hong Kong singer returned to perform in Malaysia after eight years, holding a two-night concert in Genting.
During her first show last Friday (Mar 29), Kelly, 51, revealed she’s really happy to be back.
Not just because she gets to perform for her fans in Malaysia, but also ‘cos she can finally eat durian.
“I really want to eat durian, but I haven’t had it yet. I really miss it,” she said.
Kelly tried mao shan wang for the first time years ago during a visit to Malaysia and was obsessed with it.
Nevermind that her clothes would smell like durian, Kelly and her entourage loaded their suitcases with the fruit so they could enjoy them back in Hong Kong.
“Little did we know that durians are not allowed on flights!” she said, adding they were stopped during check-in.
Not wanting to let the good stuff go to waste, Kelly and her crew rushed outside the airport and started inhaling them as fast as they could.
“Luckily, durians can now be vacuumed-packed,” she laughed before jokingly asking the audience to buy some for her.
Well, it seems fans took note of Kelly’s request.
When she asked the audience during her concert the next day how many packs of durian they bought her, the crowd replied: “A lot!”
Kelly then let on that she has a love-hate relationship with the ‘heaty’ fruit – love the taste, hate that it makes her break out.
“I’m afraid I’ll break out in pimples at the next stop!” she lamented.
When Kelly asked the crowd for remedies to reduce heatiness, one fan shouted, “Eat 10 mangosteens!”
Shocked, the singer exclaimed, “Ten mangosteens?! No wonder you have that physique, bro!”
