End call to boycott
IPOH: Calls for boycotts as well as criminal acts of attack on KK Super Mart convenience stores should stop.
The people should let the law take its rightful course, says the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF).
MCPF Kinta district chairman Chung Kok Heung said Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh must end his calls to boycott the KK Super Mart convenience store chain nationwide.
He hoped the police would catch the culprits involved in the Molotov cocktail attacks on three shops of the convenience store chain.
“Such attacks are creating fear among the general public, and this could deter people from purchasing items from the convenience stores.
“The incidents can affect the business confidence of not only local investors but foreign investors as well.
“I hope Dr Muhamad Akmal will think twice before carrying out calls to boycott the stores,” he said.
“We need to ensure that racial harmony is maintained,” he added during a visit to one of the outlets on Jalan Raja Ekram here yesterday in a show of support by MCPF for KK Super Mart stores.
Chung also said Datuk Seri Dr Chai Kee Kan, the founder and executive chairman of KK Supermart & Superstore Sdn Bhd, is also a MCPF member.
He said His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, had advised everyone to be more responsible and warned all parties against taking advantage of this incident, including inciting the people.
As such, Chung said Dr Muhamad Akmal must stop provoking the people.
“Even the Prime Minister himself has advised everyone to move on from this and to look at other issues concerning the economy and the rising cost of living,” he added.
