‘I still love my wife,’ says KLIA shooting suspect

PETALING JAYA: The man suspected of attempting to kill his wife at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) says he still loves her.

“I still love my wife, Farah Md Isa, thank you,” Hafizul Harawi told the media as he arrived at a Magistrate’s Court in Kota Baru on Monday (April 22) morning for a remand extension proceeding.

Hafizul, 38, was handed a further five-day extension on his remand period by Magistrate Ahmad Syafiq Aizat Nazri, Sinar Harian reported.

The extension was to help investigations under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 and Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960.

He is suspected of firing two shots at travel agency owner Farah at 1.20am on April 14 while she was awaiting the return of her clients from the umrah.

While Farah was unharmed, her bodyguard was wounded in the stomach while shielding her from the shots.

He underwent intestinal surgery and was placed in a medically-induced coma, subsequently regaining consciousness on Saturday (April 21).
