K-pop Group Stray Kids Taunted By Rude & Racist Remarks From Photographers On 2024 Met Gala Red Carpet

K-pop boyband Stray Kids has made history by being the first Korean group to attend the Met Gala together.

But it seems not everyone was cheering for their historic debut to the annual event, which is held on the first Monday of May each year.

In a video posted online, event photographers were observed to be displeased with the way the band posed for pictures and were caught making rude and racist remarks.

Stray Kids was formed in 2017 through a reality show of the same name. The group is made up of eight members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N.

“I’ve never seen so many unemotional faces in my life,” bemoaned one photographer.

The remarks only got worse when Stray Kids started taking off their coats to reveal colour-coordinated suits.

“We gotta do it again,” groaned a photographer before shouting, “Now, let’s do it with feeling!”

The next few seconds seemed painfully awkward as the band was even asked to jump.

One photographer also drew laughs when he was heard asking, “How do you say ‘right’ in Korean?”

When videos of the heckling were posted online, fans were up in arms over what they saw, calling the photographers “rude” and “racist.

“It is 2024 and we are still doing this,” wrote a TikToker.

“It is so embarrassing to see grown men act like children,” commented a fan.

“Whether you are a fan or not, NO ONE should have to be on the receiving end of such racist and vile commentary from photographers,” said another netizen.

It also seems some Stray Kids fans have taken it a step further and posted the alleged identity of one of the photogs.

A quick check on Instagram however showed the profile has now been set to private.

The controversial incident wasn’t the only awkward incident that happened on the red carpet.

The band was interviewed alongside their outfit fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, and it seems the 73-year-old icon might have just revealed some news with the revelation of a Stray Kids tour.

“They are as modern as you can get, modern prep and they are global superstars. They’re embarking on a 40-city tour…”, said Tommy which drew a raised eyebrows and gaping mouths from the band.

Up to this point, there has been no indication of Stray Kids going on such a concert tour and fans quickly reacted online.

“How many, sir?? The man did not just casually drop 40 cities for a Stray Kids tour?!?” wrote a netizen.

Oops?

However, it seems the unplanned revelation has since been edited out of the video.

Stray Kids is the first Korean group to appear together at the Met Gala.
But it seems the group was heckled by some very rude photographers.
It seems fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger (second from left) said too much during the interview. According to him, Stray Kids is getting ready to go on a 40-city tour soon.
