Mention frugal stars and Hong Kong screen legend Tony Leung is probably one of the first that comes to mind.
Despite having an estimated net worth of US$20mil (S$26.5mil), the 61-year-old is famously down-to-earth.
He has been known to drive the same car for more than 15 years and has been seen in the same sneakers and blue Adidas track suit on numerous occasions.
Recently, Tony, who is filming new movie Silent Friend in Europe, took some time off for a vacation with wife Carina Lau, 57, in France.
Carina has been posting Instagram photos of their holiday, which saw them visiting museums, checking out the beaches of Saint Tropez, and dining at Le Club 55, one of her favourite restaurants.
The thing that stood out in her snaps was not Tony’s favourite track suit (which he wore several times during the trip), but his baby blue Casio G-SHOCK watch, which is surprisingly a women’s model.
According to the Casio website, it is the GLX-S5600-2, a smaller version of the G-LIDE sports line.
The watch has yet to be released and will retail for S$139.
The model is said to be designed for surfers and comes with features like tide charts, perfect for surfing and sailing enthusiasts like Tony.
Netizens were impressed with Tony’s choice of timepiece, with one commenting: “Real man rock Casio (sic).”
