Ulu Tiram police station attack: Two cops and assailant dead
JOHOR BARU: Two policemen were killed while another was injured when they were attacked by an intruder at the Ulu Tiram police station early Friday (May 17) morning.
Johor Police chief Comm M. Kumar said the suspect was also shot dead at the scene.
He said the bodies of the deceased were sent to the Hospital Sultan Ismail forensic department, while the injured policeman was receiving treatment at the same hospital.
He expressed regret over the incident and said investigations were ongoing.
“The officers were assaulted and shot.
“Further investigation is being carried out,” he said when met at the scene of the incident.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain is expected to visit the station soon.
It was reported earlier that at least three people, including two police constables, were killed in the attack.
The as-yet-unidentified armed intruder, who was in his 30s, entered the station at about 2am.
According to sources, he slashed the constable who was manning the station counter on the neck and head, killing him on the spot.
The suspect then took the victim’s gun and shot another policeman who came out to check on the commotion, fatally wounding him.
The sources said a third policeman then rushed out and shot the attacker dead.
