Zii Jia beats Guangzu to reach Thai Open semis
PETALING JAYA: Professional men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia survived a scare before storming into the semi-finals of the Thailand Open in Bangkok on Friday.
The world No. 10 triumphed over world No. 19 Lu Guangzu of China 21-13, 16-21, 21-18 in a 66-minute quarter-final clash.
This win marks Zii Jia’s fifth victory against Guangzu in seven encounters.
He will play Chou Tien-chen of Taiwan next. Tien-chen upset second seed Kodai Naraoka of Japan 21-14, 21-15 in another quarter-final match.
The other semi-final will be between Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong and Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand.
