24-year-old uni student falls to her death from hotel balcony in Tanjung Bungah

GEORGE TOWN: A 24-year-old university student was killed after falling from a 21st-floor hotel balcony in Tanjung Bungah here.

She was said to be on a holiday trip with her boyfriend. They were both from Kelantan.

Police were alerted after the public discovered her body while her boyfriend was in the shower during the incident at about 3.35pm Wednesday (May 22).

According to reports, the man only realised what had happened after seeing a crowd of people gathered on the ground floor before going down to the scene himself.

Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad confirmed receiving reports of the incident and stated that police had recorded a statement from the boyfriend.

Earlier, northeast district OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid was quoted as saying that preliminary investigations found no criminal elements in the case.

It was understood that the incident occurred not long after the woman checked into the hotel with her boyfriend.
