Johor Immigration Department acting director Mohd Faizal Shamsudin said the joint operation was conducted together with Iskandar Puteri City Council, Muar Immigration Division, and Tangkak Police.

“The operation took place following information on foreigners working without valid work permits in Tangkak and Iskandar Puteri,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Faizal said 36 individuals and four premises in Iskandar Malaysia were inspected, while 295 foreigners and locals were inspected in four premises in Tangkak.

“We detained a 21-year-old man, a supervisor at one of the four premises in Iskandar Malaysia during the operation,” he said.

Mohd Faizal added that 10 men and six women from Myanmar, three Thai nationals, and a Laos citizen aged between 25 and 53 were also detained in Iskandar Malaysia.

In Tangkak, 36 Bangladeshi men, five Nepalese men and three Nepalese women, 13 Pakistani men, 12 Myanmar men, and eight Indian nationals were apprehended.

“We also detained one woman from Cambodia in Tangkak,” he said, adding that those detained in Tangkak were aged between 19 and 51.

Mohd Faizal said the undocumented foreigners had committed offences under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155), and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155).

He emphasised that the department would continue to work closely with other enforcement agencies in Johor to eradicate the influx of illegal immigrants in the state.
