Police detain 129 in raids on entertainment outlets in Johor
JOHOR BARU: Police have detained 129 individuals during raids at three different entertainment outlets in Muar district and Taman Nusa Bestari in Iskandar Puteri.
Johor Police chief Comm M. Kumar said the operation on Friday (May 31) involved officers from the Muar Police District and Iskandar Puteri Police District headquarters.
“The raids were conducted between 12.15am and 1.30am,” he said in a statement.
Comm Kumar said those detained included two local men, one local woman, 15 foreign men, and 111 foreign women aged between 18 and 47.
He said police also seized 14 receipts, musical instruments, and RM4,210 in cash.
Comm Kumar said initial urine tests found that three local men and seven foreign women tested positive for methamphetamine, ketamine, and benzo.
“Two of the entertainment outlets did not have valid business licences, while the other one operated within the stipulated business hours,” added Comm Kumar.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 6(2) and 11(2) of the Johor Entertainment Places Enactment, Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63, Rule 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963, Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, Section 6(1)(a) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“We will not compromise with any unlicensed entertainment outlets offering foreign women as guest relations officers and involved in drug abuse,” said Comm Kumar.
