No sabotage, malicious elements in PJ church car crash, say cops

PETALING JAYA: Police have confirmed that a driver who crashed into a church compound in Petaling Jaya had lost control of his vehicle before the accident.

Petaling Jaya deputy OCPD, Supt Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said police received information on Saturday (June 1) that a car had skidded and crashed into the church compound at Jalan SS 25/23, Taman Plaza, Petaling Jaya.

“Upon checking, it was found the incident happened at 11:46pm on Friday (May 31) involving an SUV driven by a 30-year-old man travelling from Subang to Kelana Jaya.

Supt Hussin Sollehuddin said the driver, in his statement, said he had taken a wrong turn and lost control of his vehicle and skidded into the church compound.

“The accident only involved damage to property and no injuries to the public,” he said in a statement Monday (June 3).

“The driver sustained minor injuries and was brought to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for further treatment.

“The cause of the accident is still being investigated under Section 42(1) Road Transport Act 1987, with police collecting blood samples of the driver for alcohol and drug tests,” Supt Hussin Sollehuddin said.

He added that the incident did not involve any malicious elements or sabotage and advised the public not to speculate on the cause of the accident.
