Cops seize more than RM500,000 worth of fake liquor during Johor Baru factory raid

JOHOR BARU: A raid at a factory in Taman Tan Sri Yaakob near Skudai has led the Marine Police Region II to seize 383 boxes containing fake liquor.

Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar said that, based on public information and a week-long surveillance, a team of marine police launched the raid at around 4.45pm on Tuesday (June 4).

“The factory is believed to be processing and storing fake liquor. During the raid, a 33-year-old male foreigner was detained,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 5).

Comm Kumar added that the foreign suspect was detained after checks found he had no identification documents.

He said that checks inside the factory discovered 383 boxes of liquor, two electrical water pumps with hoses, a barrel of colouring liquid, five rolls of customs and branded duty-paid stickers, two plastic barrels containing alcohol, a box of bottle covers, and a mobile phone.

“The total value of the seized items is more than RM547,000,” he said, adding that the police remain committed to enforcing and monitoring illegal activities.

Comm Kumar urged the public to continue providing information on any criminal activities to ensure national security and public order are preserved.
