A car hijacking is frightening as it is – but when there is a victim in the car when it happens, the fear factor simply skyrockets.
Is it true that a retired teacher was unintentionally “kidnapped” in a car hijacking at a petrol station in Semambu?

68-year-old Napisah Muhammad had a terrifying encounter when an unknown assailant hijacked her daughter’s car and drove it away with her still sitting inside it.
Before the incident, Napisah, her husband, Mohamed Halim Omar, 77, and their daughter were at the petrol station to refuel and to use the washroom.
According to Kuantan police chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu, the victim and her husband headed to use the washroom while their daughter was refuelling the car.
The car remained parked nearby with the engine on, while the daughter, upon seeing her mother returning, headed to use the washroom herself.
“Just when she was heading to the washroom, she heard her mother scream for help from her car, which was speeding away,” said Wan Mohd Zahari.
Fortunately, the carjacker left the victim about 400m from the scene.
CCTV recordings showed the thief drove to the station on a stolen motorcycle with a false registration plate.
The thief escaped with the hijacked car, a smartphone belonging to the victim’s daughter, a Touch n Go card and a Smart Tag device.
Police estimate the total losses to be around RM94,000, and efforts are being made to identify the culprit.
